Paris Motor Show 2008

Early on a cold October Saturday morning Mick, Alan ,Mike and Anthony set out for Dublin Airport. Their destination was Paris and the 2008 Motor Show. On arrival in Paris the lads checked into their Hotel and then moved quickly on to the show by Metro. Top of the agenda was to carry out a full inspection of the New Suzuki Alto.

Upon reaching the show they were immediately struck by two things. One was the size of the venue (this was not the RDS) it was huge. Eight big halls filled with the latest models from every manufacturer selling cars in Europe. The other thing was that there was one clear theme and direction on every stand GREEN GREEN GREEN GREEN GREEN. This was a show for fuel efficient, low emmission vehicles and electric vehicles. The writing was definately on the wall, small cars were back!

When they reached the Suzuki stand the lads went straight to work on the New Alto, inspecting it from top to bottom and inside out. A concensus was quickly reached that this car was everything that an Alto should be. Small, user freindly, and very economical, with the added bonus of being quite a stylish little car. And the surroundings they viewed it in compounded the feeling that Suzuki were on the right track with this car.

Having completed their mission to see the new Alto and covering seven of the eight halls they headed back to the hotel travel weary and with tired legs. But the night was young and the St Germain district of Paris with its restaurants and bars beckoned. An excellent meal and a few pints went down well followed by a sound nights sleep to prepare for the journey home to Dublin.
